Being an extremely non-linear account of my struggle to understand just what the hell is actually going on here!

Southern summer
07.25.05 (3:14 pm)   [edit]
I just stepped out on my deck to see how much it has cooled since the sun went down. Our high today was 99.4 and the heat index was 120. Now it's 9:00 PM and the temperature is 91 and the heat index is 114. That's summer time in the south...sporadic heat lightning but no thunder and not even a hint of rain. It's the kind of weather that goes with a front porch, a rocker and the almost inaudible murmur of a wide summer drained river. Even the crickets have slowed down and the dog sleeps with her tongue hanging out.

Where, the hell is the windchill when we need it?

It went from almost 90 here to 74 (predicted) high today. I almost needed a jacket today.

Our weather cooled some...the other day our heat index was 125 - with 97 temps, 86 dew point...the air was so thick you could cut it.

I'll never complain about winter again...at least until the air conditioner is fixed...

I can't throw any numbers out to compare, but... I can tell you that it hurts to open my eyes when I walk to my car, my anti-perspirant seems to be laughing every morning when I put it on, and I've recently set a new record... three showers in one day. Whew. Texas.

I spent 5 summers in central Texas, Waco...I feel your pain. I switched to a new deoderant..."White Flag"....at this time of year it just surrenders!

Tonight I'll get in the pool for a bit before supper and that should help.
